Order Management (OMS) Overview

OMS Order Management Orders Multi-channel Status Management

OMS (Order Management System) is a system that consolidates orders coming in from multiple sales channels into a single view. ReceiptRoller's OMS lets you manage orders from Web, POS, B2B EC, Shopify, Amazon, phone, and manual entry — all from one screen.

Supported channels

Orders from the following channels are consolidated and managed in the OMS.

  • Web — Orders from your own EC site (B2C)
  • POS — In-store point-of-sale transactions
  • B2B EC — Orders from your B2B site for wholesale buyers
  • Shopify — Orders imported via the Shopify integration
  • Amazon — Orders imported via the Amazon SP-API integration
  • Phone — Phone orders (entered manually by staff)
  • Manual — Orders entered directly from the admin screen

Order lifecycle

Every order moves through the following statuses in sequence.

  • Pending — The order has come in and is awaiting confirmation
  • Confirmed — The details have been confirmed and processing has started
  • Preparing — The order is being prepared for shipment (picking, packing, etc.)
  • Shipped — The order has been handed off to the carrier
  • Delivered — The order has been delivered to the customer
  • Completed — The transaction is complete (e.g., the return window has passed)
  • Cancelled — The order has been cancelled

Timeline (change history)

Every status change, comment, and action is recorded chronologically on the timeline. Once recorded, timeline entries cannot be edited or deleted — they are kept as an immutable log, so you can always trace exactly who did what and when.

Webhook events

When an order's status changes, an event is sent to any registered webhook endpoints. This can be used for real-time integration with external systems such as logistics, accounting, or CRM platforms.

Integration with WMS and invoices

  • When an order is confirmed, the inventory allocation is automatically reported to the WMS (warehouse management system)
  • For B2B EC orders, an invoice is automatically issued at the same time the order is confirmed
  • Once shipment is complete, the tracking number is recorded on the timeline
