ReceiptRoller 1.4.973 and App 1.8 Release Notes

Release 1.4.973 brings everything we have built since 1.4.962, and we have also released iPhone and Android app 1.8. In the app, customers can now receive receipts from a store's QR code, claim and use coupons, choose which stores may email them, enter receipts by hand, and set budgets per category and label. For stores, we have added Timecards to check and correct staff punches and total them by month. Receipts sent by email now come with a PDF attached, and we have improved Smaregi payment method names, receipt wording and header layout, and the payment amounts on receipts saved in the LINE mini app.

What's new

iPhone and Android app 1.8 is out

App 1.8 is now on the App Store and Google Play. The coupons and store email settings announced in the previous release notes now work in the app too.

  • Receive digital receipts in the app — scan a participating store's QR code and the receipt arrives straight in the app, saved exactly as the store issued it: the store's address, phone number and registration number (invoice), payment method, cash tendered and change
  • Turn on "Receive automatically from next time" to get that store's receipts automatically from then on
  • Claim coupons and use them at checkout — claim coupons from your favorite stores, show one to staff at checkout and tap "Use". If you tap it by mistake, you can undo it within 10 minutes
  • Choose how you receive emails from stores — under "Emails from stores" in settings, choose from every store, only stores you have visited, or none. You can also stop and resume each store
  • Fixed the coupon list sometimes not showing, depending on the coupon type

Version 1.8 also includes these features to make the household budget easier to use.

  • Enter receipts by hand — record purchases you could not photograph by entering the store name, date, amount and so on. Tax is never guessed; the receipt is saved exactly as entered
  • Set budgets per category and label — see how much you have spent against the budget, and the history of past months. The budgets you used in the browser and the LINE mini app now work in the app too
  • Move on without waiting for a scanned receipt to save — saving and reading happen in the background, and finished receipts appear at the top of the list. Reading progress is shown step by step
  • Scanned receipts are cropped automatically — less background gets in, and the image is sent at a size that reads well

Timecards: check and correct staff punches and total them by month

We have added "Timecards" to the store page. It is available to the same roles that can manage shifts.

  • See each staff member's planned shift, actual hours, breaks and worked time for each day — "Missed clock-out" appears when there has been no clock-out for 16 hours or more since clocking in, and "+1:00 vs plan" and similar appear when worked time differs from the plan by 30 minutes or more
  • Fix missed or mistaken punches from the dashboard — add a punch, add a forgotten break's start and end together, fix a time, or void a punch with a reason
  • Punches are never edited or deleted, and every correction is recorded — a voided punch stays with its reason, and punches added from the dashboard are marked "Web correction" with the name of the person who recorded them
  • See days worked, hours, breaks, night hours (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.), hourly rate and estimated base pay on the "By month" tab — base pay is an estimate of hourly rate × hours worked and does not include night or overtime premiums
  • Export a CSV for payroll — hours are written as decimals, such as 7.50

Receipt emails now come with a PDF

Many of you asked to print or keep receipts received by email, for expense claims and records.

  • Every receipt email now has a PDF attached — this covers receipts delivered automatically and those sent from "Receive by email" on the receipt page and the counter QR code. No store setting is needed
  • The PDF is laid out like the paper receipt, 80 mm wide — logo, store details, registration number, items, total, tax by rate, payments, and the store's message. Items hidden in receipt design are hidden in the PDF too
  • The PDF content is in Japanese — for now, receipts containing Thai text or the baht sign are sent without the PDF. The receipt in the email body still arrives as before

Smaregi payment methods now show correctly on receipts

  • Fixed debit, prepaid, gift certificates and others showing as "Credit card" — we now go by the payment type Smaregi sends
  • QR code payments and e-money now show the service used — for example "Payment (QR code payment · PayPay)". Terminal names and doubled "QR payment" labels no longer appear
  • Fixed "Payment (Cash)" sometimes appearing twice on cash sales — cash vouchers and similar now show the name the store gave them

Receipt wording and header aligned

  • The same item now has the same name everywhere — receipt number, date and time, cash tendered and change are worded the same on the receipt page, LINE, email, the LINE mini app and the receipt design preview
  • The top of the receipt now reads like a paper receipt — store name centered, company name, address, phone and registration number left-aligned, then "Digital receipt" centered below. Email, LINE and the LINE mini app all use this layout
  • "Digital receipt" is now printed larger — larger than the store details and smaller than the store name

Payment amounts fixed on receipts saved in the LINE mini app

  • The payment line now shows the amount actually paid, not the total — matching the receipt page, LINE and email. Split payments are shown one per payment
  • Fixed Square and Lightspeed discounts looking as if they were taken twice

Improved "Receive by email" from the counter QR code

  • We now reliably send the receipt for the sale shown on the receipt page
  • If sending the email does not go through, you can receive it again
  • A receipt that has already been received now shows "This receipt has already been received"

Other improvements and fixes

  • The account merge confirmation now shows the correct number of receipts that will move — one receipt could show as "4" because line items and similar were counted. The data itself always moved correctly

Coming next

Next, we plan to work on showing the trial period in English, Traditional Chinese and Thai, reflecting Smaregi app contract changes (start, cancellation and plan changes), and overtime totals and limit warnings in Timecards. If there's a feature you'd like, tell us any time on the feature requests page.
