The spending data gathered in ReceiptRoller is sorted into categories and totaled automatically. There's no need to type it in by hand the way you would with a paper budget book.
Automatic categorization
- It covers everything: e-receipts, scans, and CSV imports.
- From item names and store types, the AI sorts spending into "Groceries," "Daily goods," "Transport," and so on.
- If it's wrong, you can change it by hand from the transaction screen.
Viewing totals by category
- Open the "Totals" tab to see your spending for the period broken out by category.
- You can view it visually as a pie chart or bar chart.
- Tap a category to open the list of transactions in it.
Adding and changing categories
- Open "Category management" from the settings screen.
- You can add your own categories (e.g. "Kids," "Pets").
- You can hide categories you don't use.
Narrowing down what's totaled
You can also view totals filtered by period, payment method, store, and more. For example, you can look at "cash-only groceries" or "only Super A last month."
