Sales Floor Improvement
Shelf Analytics is a feature that visualizes shelf allocation, product placement, and sales efficiency on the sales floor with numbers and visuals. By understanding which items are selling in which shelf and position, you can continuously improve your sales floor layout.
Key concepts covered by Shelf Analytics
- Shelf allocation (planogram) — a design diagram showing which item is placed in which row and position of the shelf, and how many facings it has
- Facing — how many units of an item are lined up facing forward (facing count)
- Space efficiency — sales or profit per unit area of the shelf
- Out-of-stock (OOS) — a state where an item is missing from the shelf. A major cause of missed-sale opportunities
Data sources
Shelf Analytics combines multiple data sources to visualize the state of the sales floor.
- POS sales data — sales quantity, revenue, and profit for each item
- PIM product master — size, category, price, and images
- WMS stock data — stock counts at the sales-floor location (StoreFloor)
- Shelf camera (optional) — automatic recognition of the physical shelf and out-of-stock detection via image AI
What you can do with Shelf Analytics
- Design shelf allocation via drag-and-drop and distribute it to stores
- See "where an item is selling" and "where it isn't selling" as a map for each item
- Automatically calculate the Space-to-Sales Ratio
- Detect out-of-stock situations and issue replenishment alerts
- Run A/B tests on sales floor layouts and compare results
Integration with related systems
- PIM → automatically reflects product information, category, and images in the shelf allocation
- POS → evaluates sales floor efficiency using real-time sales data
- WMS → generates out-of-stock alerts in coordination with sales-floor stock
- Retail media → measures the effectiveness of endcaps and POP advertising
