Tax on Receipts and Your Invoice Registration Number
Digital receipts show the amount and consumption tax for each tax rate, whether the customer receives them by email, in LINE or on the receipt page opened from a QR code. If you set your qualified invoice registration number in your store information, it appears on the receipt as well. This article explains what is shown and how to set it up.
Tax by rate
Below the total, the receipt shows each tax rate separately. When an order mixes 10% and 8% items, each rate gets its own line. In Japanese the lines read like this:
- 10%対象 ¥19,800 — 内消費税 ¥1,800 (10% taxable amount, tax included)
- 8%対象 ¥540 — 内消費税 ¥40 (8% taxable amount, tax included)
Prices that include tax show 内消費税 (tax included); prices with tax added on top show 外消費税 (tax added). The transaction detail in store management also shows tax by rate.
How the tax is worked out
- When your POS sends the tax for each item, that amount is used as is.
- When your POS sends only the tax for the whole transaction, as Smaregi does, the tax for each rate is worked out from that rate's amount. It is rounded once per rate, using the tax rounding method set in Smaregi (round, round down or round up).
- Discounts on the whole transaction, such as subtotal discounts, points and coupons, are spread across the rates in proportion.
- The tax for each rate always adds up to the tax your POS charged.
Showing your invoice registration number
- On the store page, open the ⋮ menu at the top right and choose "Edit store info".
- Open the "Invoice" tab and tick "Qualified invoice support".
- Enter your 14-character number starting with T (for example T1234567890123) in "Invoice registration number".
- Click "Save". Each tab saves on its own, so save before you move to another tab.
The number appears below the store name as 登録番号 T1234567890123 only when "Qualified invoice support" is ticked and the number is T followed by 13 digits. A number in the wrong format is not shown. Hyphens and spaces are removed automatically.
