ReceiptRoller 1.4.996 Release Notes

Release 1.4.996 brings everything we have built since 1.4.973. Customers can now issue their own formal receipt with their name on it from a digital receipt. For stores, we have added cancelling a receipt a customer already received, campaigns delivered to LINE and a change history for each product. We have also fixed automatic updates from Square for products and staff and Smaregi app contract changes, and extended what each role can do in the store app, invoice and receipt downloads for your plan and English, Traditional Chinese and Thai on more pages.

What's new

Customers can issue their own formal receipt from a digital receipt

Customers who need a receipt with their name on it for an expense claim no longer have to wait for one to be written by hand at the till. They can issue it themselves from the digital receipt they received.

  • A PDF formal receipt with the addressee and a description of what was paid for — issued from a receipt saved in LINE, or from the link in the receipt email. The description starts as "for goods"
  • Each store chooses whether to allow it, and it starts switched off — set it on the store's Invoice tab. This keeps a store that also writes formal receipts by hand at the till from producing two for one sale. The formal receipt carries the registration number set on the same tab
  • An issued formal receipt can be opened again — there is no need to issue a new one just to see the same PDF. One issued again with a different addressee or description is marked "reissued"

Stores can cancel a receipt a customer has already received

If a store gave a customer the QR code for the wrong sale, or a test receipt was received by mistake, the store can now cancel the received receipt.

  • The QR code section of a transaction now has "Cancel receipt" — a reason is required
  • A cancelled receipt is removed from the customer's receipt list — any "receive automatically from next time" set up along with it is turned off too. Afterwards, you can issue a new QR code for the right customer
  • The owner, operations manager, POS manager and the store's manager can cancel — each cancellation is recorded in the audit log with its reason

Campaigns now reach LINE too

  • Combined delivery to the app, LINE and email now delivers to LINE recipients — until now, LINE recipients were counted as failed. Messages come from ReceiptRoller's official account and start with your store's name

See a product's change history and where its last change came from

Products linked to Square are updated automatically when they change in Square. The product edit page now shows when a price changed, and where the change came from.

  • The product edit page shows the last change — for example, "Last updated: Square (automatic) · 10/20 09:12". For a change made in the web app, it also shows who made it
  • "This product's change history" lists the last 12 months — time, who and where from, and what changed (created, updated or deleted, and which fields)
  • The audit log now records where each change came from — filter by web app, API, Square (automatic), Square (manual sync), Smaregi and more. Each Square product sync also leaves one entry with its counts
  • The owner and operations managers see the change history — the same people who see the whole audit log

Changes in Square now update products and staff automatically

  • Fixed: changes to products and staff in Square were not being applied — Square's notifications could not be matched to the store's business account, so nothing was updated. Changes made in Square now update ReceiptRoller's products and staff automatically
  • A store linked to Square with no products yet will have its Square products imported with the first notification — up to the product limit of its plan

Smaregi app contract changes now take effect

  • Starting, cancelling and changing the plan or options of the ReceiptRoller Link app now take effect in ReceiptRoller — the notices Smaregi sends were not being accepted. This was listed under "Coming next" in our last release notes

The store app now follows each member's role

For members placed at a store, what they can do in the store app now depends on their role there (staff, shift lead or store manager). People with a role across the business account, such as the owner or an operations manager, are not affected.

  • Staff — can see the day's transactions and view reservations
  • Shift lead — everything staff can do, plus booking, changing and moving reservations, creating and deleting reservation slots, and seeing the store's past transactions and its customers
  • Store manager — everything a shift lead can do, plus adding, editing and deleting customers
  • Every member can now open the store list and the store page — members placed at stores see only their own stores

Download invoices and receipts for your plan

  • The billing page has a new "Invoices and receipts" section — for each charge for a plan paid by card, open the invoice PDF or the page where you can download the invoice and receipt

More pages in English, Traditional Chinese and Thai

  • Sign-in, two-factor authentication and account settings now appear in the language you choose — and so do the welcome, password reset and email confirmation emails
  • Booking pages show "fully booked", "closed" and similar messages in the page's language
  • The trial notice now appears in the page's language — this was listed under "Coming next" in our last release notes

A new page on POS integration

  • A page that explains what connecting Smaregi or Square gives you, and how to connect — see POS integration

Other improvements and fixes

  • Fixed: Settings in the LINE mini app sometimes failed to open
  • Fixed: links on a store site published on its own domain did not open — posts published without a URL slug now get their own page as well
  • If a scanned receipt was read incorrectly, contact us and our support team can now correct it
  • Old account management pages now take you to your profile

Coming next

In upcoming updates we plan to work on receiving in the iPhone and Android apps (scan a store's QR code and the app opens to receive the receipt) and overtime totals and limit warnings in Timecards, among other things. If there is a feature you would like, tell us any time on the feature requests page.

Thank you for using ReceiptRoller. Please send comments and requests through "Contact us" in the store dashboard.
