How In-Store Ad Delivery Works

Digital signage and devices registered to a store's ad space automatically receive ads from the ReceiptRoller ad server. Ads are selected based on the advertiser's campaign settings and targeting conditions, and are displayed at stores and time slots that match those conditions.

How Ad Delivery Works

  1. The store registers an ad space (device / display).
  2. The ad space connects to the ad server and periodically retrieves ads available for display.
  3. The advertiser's campaign targeting conditions are matched against the store's attributes.
  4. Ads that match the conditions are displayed on the space.
  5. Each display is recorded as an impression. If a click occurs, a click event is also recorded.

Targeting Conditions

Advertisers set the following targeting for each campaign. Ads are delivered when the store's attributes match these conditions.

  • Region: Prefecture / area (e.g., Tokyo, nationwide)
  • Gender: Male / female / all
  • Age group: e.g., 20-40, 18-65

Targeting is configured by the advertiser. Stores do not need to configure it individually.

Ad Formats

  • Still images (photos)
  • Video
  • Banner format

The supported formats and sizes vary depending on the type of ad space (digital signage, shelf-mounted, near register, etc.). A creative is automatically selected to match the ad space's resolution and orientation (portrait/landscape).

Delivery Schedule

Ads are delivered within the campaign's start and end date range. Ads are not displayed outside the campaign period. If there is no ad available to deliver to an ad space, we recommend displaying default content (such as store-specific announcements).

Ad Review

Ad creatives registered on the ReceiptRoller ad platform go through a review process before delivery (Draft → Pending → Approved/Rejected). Only approved ads are delivered to the store's ad space. Stores do not need to review ad content individually.
