What Is the Store App Platform?
The Store App Platform lets you publish your own branded app for each store across four channels: Web, iOS, Android, and the LINE mini app. Register your membership card, announcements, coupons, business hours, and store information once in the shared management screen (CMS), and the changes are reflected across all four channels at the same time. There's no need to update each channel separately.
For store owners who think "I'd like to build my own app, but development and operation sound like a lot of work," we've prepared an end-to-end, no-code workflow covering everything from publishing the app, to submitting it to the App Store / Google Play, setting up a custom domain, push notifications, and Wallet membership cards. This article walks through the full picture of what you can do and how to get started.
Your own app across four channels
A single Store App is published simultaneously across the following four channels. Customers can use whichever channel suits them best.
- Web App — a channel that opens instantly from a browser. Since no app installation is required, it's an easy entry point even for first-time customers
- iOS Native App — a branded app published on the App Store, just for your store. Adding push notifications or a Wallet membership card is seamless (Growth plan or higher)
- Android Native App — a native app published on Google Play. It's built automatically from the same codebase as the iOS version (Growth plan or higher)
- LINE Mini App — provides an in-LINE app experience for friends of your official LINE account. Customers can open your store's app directly from a QR code or a LINE notification
Membership cards support both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
Your store's original membership card can be added to your customers' standard smartphone wallet apps (Apple Wallet / Google Wallet). Since the barcode and membership number are issued together, scanning it at your store's POS immediately identifies the member. Wallet membership cards require the Growth plan or higher.
- For each membership rank (regular, silver, gold, etc.), you can edit the card's background color, logo, and text color while viewing a live preview
- Location-based notifications are supported. When a customer gets near your store, you can display a notification via the Wallet card
- The membership number is synced bidirectionally with the membership information on the POS (Smaregi / Square) side
Notify customers from a single screen
We've built out the push notification delivery stack. App notifications, LINE notifications, and email notifications are all managed together from one screen. You can target recipients by segment (visit count, last visit date, membership rank, etc.) so messages reach only the customers who need them.
Bidirectional sync between membership number and POS
ReceiptRoller membership numbers (strings usable as barcode membership IDs) can be auto-issued per store. Because they're synced bidirectionally with the POS, membership numbers issued in-store are reflected in the app's membership card immediately, and membership numbers issued via the app are also registered in the POS's member master.
- Works with Smaregi / Square (support for additional POS systems is planned)
- The membership number format (prefix, digit count) can be configured per store
Self-service all the way to native app submission
We provide a submission wizard that store owners can run themselves from the management screen, covering both building the iOS / Android native apps and submitting them to the App Store / Google Play. Since app assets (icons, splash screens, metadata) are generated automatically, you can proceed with submission even without a designer or developer. Publishing a native app requires the Growth plan or higher.
- With the App Store Connect integration, you can track submission status (in review, rejected, awaiting release) in real time from the management screen
- We've verified App Store Review Guideline 4.2.6 compliance with pilot stores, and the wizard supports submissions that meet this guideline
Custom domain mapping
You can map your store's own custom domain (e.g. app.your-store.com) to the Store App's Web channel. DNS setup verification happens automatically, so you can start using it right after configuration.
Get started quickly with industry-specific templates
For store owners just getting started, we provide industry-specific templates. Simply choose the features you need and publish as-is — your app can be ready to launch in just a few minutes.
- Restaurant — comes pre-configured with the features restaurants need, such as business hours, reservations, menu display, and stamp cards
- Retail — bundles the features retail stores need, such as product listings, inventory display, coupons, and membership ranks
We'll keep adding more industry-specific templates going forward.
How to get started
- Open the "Store App" menu from the store management screen
- Choose an industry template (Restaurant / Retail)
- Enter basic information such as store name, logo, and colors
- Check that it works in the Web channel (the Web version is published at this point)
- As needed, configure the Wallet membership card, push notifications, and custom domain (Wallet membership card requires Growth plan or higher)
- If you need to publish a native app, proceed to the App Store / Google Play submission using the submission wizard (Growth plan or higher)
