Choosing an Industry Template (Restaurant / Retail)
The store app platform provides industry-specific templates for first-time store owners. Choosing a template sets up your store app with the features that industry needs (business hours, menus, stamp cards, product listings, etc.) already loaded from the start, so there's no need to assemble features from scratch. You can be ready to publish in just a few minutes.
Two templates are initially available: Restaurant (food service) and Retail. This article covers the criteria for choosing between them and how to switch later.
Restaurant template (for food service businesses)
Aimed at business types that serve food and drink in-store, such as cafés, restaurants, izakaya, ramen shops, and takeout specialty stores. It assumes an industry where the customer's main interest before visiting centers on "Are you open now?", "What's on the menu?", and "Can I make a reservation?"
Features included from the start:
- Business hours display (you can set multiple shifts in a day, such as lunch and dinner)
- Menu display (with categories and photos)
- Reservation acceptance (configure seat count, courses, and time slots)
- Stamp-card-style membership card (rewards based on visit count)
- Coupon delivery (happy hour, birthday specials, etc.)
- Announcements from the store (temporary closures, new menu notices)
Retail template (for retail businesses)
Aimed at store types that sell products, such as apparel, general goods, grocery stores, cosmetics, and bookstores. It assumes an industry where the customer's main interest before visiting centers on "What products do you have?", "Is it in stock?", and "Is there a sale right now?"
Features included from the start:
- Product listing display (category, photo, price)
- In-store product stock display (only when connected to POS)
- Rank-based membership card (rank-ups based on purchase amount or visit count)
- Coupon delivery (new arrivals, members-only sales)
- Announcements from the store (new arrivals, sale notices)
- Business hours display (simplified version)
Which one should you choose
If you're unsure, use the following criteria to decide.
| Your store's characteristics | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Serves food and drink | Restaurant |
| Wants to accept table/seat reservations | Restaurant |
| Wants to show the menu with photos | Restaurant |
| Sells products | Retail |
| Wants to show product stock and pricing | Retail |
| Wants rank-based perks tied to purchase amount | Retail |
| Handles both food and retail (e.g. a café plus general goods) | Choose whichever matches your primary business, and add the other set of features later |
A template is just a starting point
After choosing a template, you can still freely add or remove features. For example, you can start with the Restaurant template and later add a product listing for a retail corner, or add reservation functionality to the Retail template.
Features can be added anytime from the Store App settings in the store admin screen. You can also freely change the order in which menu items appear to customers.
Switching templates later
If you want to change templates, keep the following in mind.
- Registered data carries over — announcements, coupons, member information, and reservation data are not lost when switching templates
- The default screen layout and menu structure changes — the "Menu" and "Reservations" items that were arranged for Restaurant switch to a layout centered on "Products" and "Membership Card" for Retail
- Features specific to an industry are hidden if they don't exist in the new template — for example, switching Restaurant's "reservation feature" to Retail removes the reservation page from the menu (the data is retained — switching back restores it)
You can re-select a template from the store admin screen under "Store App" → "Settings" → "Template."
Templates planned for future addition
Currently only Restaurant and Retail are available, but based on customer feedback, we plan to add the following industry-specific templates in turn.
- Beauty salon / salon (booking by stylist, course management)
- Clinic / healthcare (questionnaires, appointments, treatment history)
- Service industry (on-site visits, local services)
- Events / experience venues (tickets, punch cards)
If there's a template you'd like to see, please let us know via "Contact Us" on the store admin screen.
