Automatic Categorization of Imported Data

CSV category auto-categorization

Transactions imported via CSV are categorized automatically based on the text in the description field. They use the same category scheme as your receipts, so everything can be totaled together.

How automatic categorization works

  • The category is inferred from keywords in the description field (store and service names).
  • "7-Eleven" → Groceries, "ENEOS" → Transport (fuel), "Netflix" → Entertainment, and so on.
  • The AI learns from past classifications, and accuracy improves over time.

Reviewing and correcting the category

  • After importing, check the category breakdown on the "Totals" screen.
  • If a transaction's category is wrong, tap it and then tap "Change category."
  • Choose "Always use this category for the same description" to update past entries in bulk too.

How fixed costs are handled

  • Transactions with the same amount debited each month are automatically recognized as "fixed costs."
  • Rent, communication charges, subscriptions, and the like can be reviewed together.

Uncategorized transactions

Transactions that couldn't be categorized automatically remain in the list as "Uncategorized." Once you assign a category by hand, similar transactions are categorized automatically from then on.
