Printing the Receipt QR Sticker

The QR code sticker that customers use to receive their receipt can be output as a PDF from the store admin screen. It's available in A6 size, in both Japanese and English versions. This article explains the output steps and points to keep in mind when printing and applying it.

About the sticker PDF

  • Size — A6 (105mm × 148mm). A size that's easy for customers to read on their smartphone.
  • Language — Japanese and English versions are available. For stores with many international customers, we recommend displaying both side by side.
  • Contents — the QR code, store name, register name, a short instructional line (e.g. "Get your receipt here"), and the ReceiptRoller logo are printed.
  • What's inside the QR code — a short URL unique to that register (e.g. https://receiptroller.io/r/a7K3xQ9m). This URL is fixed per register.

Output steps

  • Log in to the store admin screen — go to "Stores" → "POS Terminals."
  • Select the target register — click the register name you want to print from the list.
  • Click "Output Sticker PDF" — you can output it from the button in the upper right of the terminal detail screen.
  • Select a language — choose Japanese, English, or both (2 pages in a single PDF).
  • Print the downloaded PDF — printing on standard A4 paper lays it out at A6 size. A layout for printing 4 at once is also available.

Recommended print settings

  • Paper — regular paper is readable, but we recommend laminating or using water-resistant sticker paper to prevent staining.
  • Resolution — 300dpi or higher, to keep the QR code from becoming blurry.
  • Color / black and white — color printing is recommended. The QR still scans in black and white, but the ReceiptRoller logo and store name become harder to recognize.
  • Size — print at "actual size." Printing smaller than A6 via "fit to page" reduces scan accuracy.

Choosing where to apply the sticker

  • Customer eye level — a position that's naturally visible to the customer during checkout works best, rather than on top of the register.
  • Avoid glare — glare on laminated surfaces or clear covers can sometimes make the QR unreadable.
  • Use the correct sticker for each register — for stores with multiple registers, be sure to apply the QR sticker matching each register. Scanning another register's QR won't show that register's checkout data.
  • Prevent accidental or intentional swapping — using a strong-adhesive, water-resistant sticker helps prevent peeling or swapping.

Checking after applying

  • Scan test — after applying, have store staff scan the QR with a smartphone and confirm the correct register's receipt screen opens.
  • Check the register name matches — confirm the displayed register name (e.g. "Register 1") matches the register name printed on the sticker.
  • Reprinting — if damaged or stained, you can output it again anytime using the same steps. Since the QR content doesn't change, replacing it with a new sticker doesn't affect the experience for existing customers.
