Creating and Distributing a Campaign
This article explains how to bundle the images and videos you want to play on Media Display into a campaign, and specify when and where they should be shown.
Before you start
- Upload your images/videos in the Creative Management screen and get them approved
- Have at least one paired Android display
Creating a campaign
- From the management screen's side menu, open "Media Campaigns"
- Click the "Add Campaign" button
- Enter a campaign name and description (optional, for internal notes) and click "Create and Edit"
Choosing creatives
On the campaign edit screen, check off the creatives you want to play in this campaign from those uploaded to your business account.
- The display order is the loop order. To change the order, uncheck an item and check it again.
- Only approved images/videos actually play on the display. Other creatives are shown with a "Not approved" or "Not eligible" badge.
- Default playback duration — This is the slot length for images (10 seconds by default). Videos play at their actual length.
Switching the status to "Active"
While a campaign's status is "Draft," it won't play on displays even if you add placements. Once you're done selecting creatives, change the status to "Active" and save.
Adding a placement
A placement is a rule that decides when and on which displays a campaign plays. You can set multiple placements on a single campaign (for example: Store A on weekday afternoons, all stores on weekend evenings).
- Click "Add Placement" below the campaign edit screen
- Enter a name (optional) and a weight
- Select the target displays
- All displays — Plays on every display under your business account
- Specific displays only — Choose individual devices
- All displays at a specific store — Choose by store (targets every display at that store)
- Select the days of the week and time window (default is every day, all hours)
- Set a start date and end date if needed (useful for time-limited campaigns)
- Click "Add" to save
How weighting works
When multiple campaigns are playing on the same display, weight lets you adjust the playback ratio between them. For example, if Campaign A has a weight of 3 and Campaign B has a weight of 1, and both are assigned to the same display, they'll play at roughly a 3:1 ratio. Raise the weight for announcements you want to prioritize.
Example schedules
- Lunchtime menu — Days: Mon-Fri, Time: 11:00-14:00, Target: all stores, Weight: 2
- Weekend-only campaign — Days: Sat-Sun, Time: all hours, Target: all displays, Weight: 3, with a start and end date set
- Store-specific announcement — Days: every day, Time: all hours, Target: Shibuya store only, Weight: 1
Managing placements
- Pause — Use the pause button on a placement to stop it from playing. You can resume with the same button. Settings are preserved.
- Delete — Placements you no longer need can be deleted
- Setting the campaign itself to "Draft" or "Paused" stops all of its associated placements from playing
Time until playback starts
After adding a placement, it's reflected on Android displays within 60 seconds at the latest. Since the server caches the playlist for 60 seconds, please wait a little if it doesn't appear right away.
